Federation of German Consumer Organisations (Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband – VZBV)
The Federation of German Consumer Organisations(VZBZ) represents the interests of consumers. The VZBZ is a non-government body acting as an umbrella organisation for 41 German associations.
Its main goal is to protect and empower consumers. It does so by lobbying and campaigning at National and European level, by taking collective legal action (class-action lawsuits) on behalf of consumers and by ensuring that its message receives broad media coverage. It also
provides professional training for the staff of consumer organisations.
Within the 41 associations, there are 150 consumer advice centres across the 16 states in Germany. They advise on consumer protection, help with legal issues and represent the interests of consumers with respect to politics, economy and society at Government level.
