ConsuWijzer arose from a collaboration between three government agencies. These organizations are regulators, the Consumer Authority, the Dutch Competition Authority (NMa) and the Independent Post and Telecommunications Authority (OPTA).

In the Netherlands there are many rules to protect you as a customer. Companies must comply with these rules. Since January 1, 2007, the Consumer Authority assesses whether companies comply with these rules.

More information about the Dutch Competition Authority ( NMa )

The Dutch Competition Authority (NMa) supervises companies. It ensures that companies compete fairly . Competitors are not allowed to agree on what prices they ask . Holding companies do not follow the rules? The NMa may help to address . For example by a company to give a penalty . Fair competition will ensure that companies provide good quality and attractive pricing questions. So if consumers never pay too much . And you can choose who you buy.

A company may be associated with another company . It's called a merger. The NMa assesses the plans of those companies in a merger. The most important thing is that after the merger is still fair competition. The NMa also oversees utilities and transport .

OPTA controls telecom companies and operators. It examines whether these companies comply with the rules of the law. It also ensures that there is more competition.
